Rotation

Unlike Earth and most other planets, Venus rotates clockwise. Its extremely slow rotation means one Venusian day (243 Earth days) is longer than its orbital period around the Sun (225 Earth days).

Studies suggest the solid inner core spins slightly faster than Earth's mantle and crust, gaining about 0.08 to 0.1 degrees of longitude annually. This differential rotation is influenced by the magnetic field generated in the liquid outer core.

The Earth's rotation is decelerating by approximately 17 milliseconds per century due to tidal friction caused by the Moon. This means days were shorter in the distant past and will be longer in the far future, subtly altering our planet's rhythm.

Venus rotates incredibly slowly, taking about 243 Earth days to complete one rotation on its axis. However, it only takes about 225 Earth days to orbit the Sun, making its sidereal day longer than its orbital period.
