Waza National Park Hosts a Rich Diversity of African Wildlife.

Kenyan environmentalist Wangari Maathai received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2004 for her contribution to sustainable development, democracy, and peace. She founded the Green Belt Movement in 1977, which mobilized poor rural women to plant trees, restore degraded land, and improve local livelihoods. Under her leadership, the movement planted over 51 million trees across Kenya. She was also the first woman in East and Central Africa to earn a doctoral degree.

The Olympic marmot (Marmota olympus) is endemic to the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State, USA — it exists nowhere else on Earth. Found only above 1,500 meters in the subalpine meadows of Olympic National Park, this species has one of the most restricted ranges of any North American mammal. Climate change is shrinking its alpine habitat, and the species is considered vulnerable by conservation scientists.

Honey badgers are found across three continents: sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia including India and Nepal. They occupy an extraordinary variety of habitats — from rainforests and savannahs to arid deserts and alpine meadows up to 4,000 meters above sea level. This adaptability makes them one of the widest-ranging carnivores on Earth.

The honey badger (Mellivora capensis) holds the Guinness World Record for 'world's most fearless creature.' It will attack animals many times its size — lions, leopards, and even cape buffalo — without hesitation when threatened. This legendary boldness has made it a symbol of courage across many cultures.
