Snail

Called a radula, this chitinous ribbon is covered in rows of tiny, sharp teeth used to scrape algae and plant matter from surfaces. The radula acts like a file, continuously growing new teeth as old ones wear down, ensuring efficient feeding throughout their lives.

Snails can enter a state of aestivation, similar to hibernation, to survive unfavorable conditions like drought or extreme cold. During this time, they seal themselves in their shells to conserve moisture and energy, patiently waiting for better times.
