This striking bell-shaped flower, typically red or white, is endemic to the temperate rainforests of central and southern Chile. Its beauty and cultural significance have led to its legal protection to prevent over-harvesting and habitat loss.

The Sangha Trinational is a vast transboundary protected area shared with Cameroon and the Republic of Congo, recognized by UNESCO. This critical rainforest complex serves as a refuge for significant populations of endangered forest elephants, western lowland gorillas, and numerous other species.

This pristine rainforest is one of the largest and best-protected in Africa, almost entirely encircled by the Dja River. It's home to a remarkable diversity of primates and other endangered species, including forest elephants and various Baka pygmy groups.

Groups like the Baka, Bagyeli, and Bakola, among others, continue to live a semi-nomadic hunter-gatherer existence, relying on the forest for sustenance and cultural practices. However, they face increasing challenges from deforestation and modernization.

Despite its oil wealth, Brunei has diligently preserved vast tracts of its ancient rainforests, particularly in the Ulu Temburong National Park. These biodiverse ecosystems are crucial habitats for endangered species and vital for environmental stability.

Located on Tortola, Sage Mountain rises to 1,716 feet (523 meters) and hosts the Sage Mountain National Park. This park preserves the remnants of a tropical rainforest, a rare ecosystem in the BVI, offering hiking trails and panoramic views of the surrounding islands.
