Australia was the first country to introduce polymer banknotes in 1988, completely replacing paper currency by 1996. These durable, water-resistant, and secure notes are much harder to counterfeit and have a significantly longer lifespan than traditional paper money.

Although the US Dollar is widely accepted, the official currency is the Aruban Florin (AWG), which is pegged to the US Dollar at a fixed rate. Its colorful banknotes often feature local flora and fauna.
