Despite its relatively small size, Ecuador is one of the 17 megadiverse countries, boasting an extraordinary concentration of species. It holds records for the highest plant species per square kilometer and most bird species globally, highlighting its incredible ecological richness.

Located about 1,000 km off Ecuador's coast, these volcanic islands are famed for their unique biodiversity. Their isolation allowed species like the giant tortoise and marine iguana to evolve in extraordinary ways, inspiring Charles Darwin's theory of evolution.

In 2008, Ecuador became the first country to enshrine the Rights of Nature in its constitution. This legal framework grants ecosystems and all life the right to exist, flourish, and evolve, allowing citizens to sue on nature's behalf.

These iconic straw hats, known globally as "Panama hats," have been hand-woven in Ecuador since the 17th century. They gained their misleading name during the Panama Canal construction, where workers wore them, and President Theodore Roosevelt was photographed wearing one.

Due to the Earth's equatorial bulge, Chimborazo's summit is the furthest point from the Earth's center, surpassing even Mount Everest. This makes it technically the highest point above the Earth's core, offering a unique perspective on our planet's shape.
